Robert MacIntyre carded a bogey-free, 6-under 64 to reach 14-under and take a five-shot lead into the weekend at the BMW Championship.

“I’ve played beautifully the last two days. Yesterday the putter was on fire. Today I felt like my iron play was exceptional. But I’ve been putting in the work the last couple of weeks to make it — to improve on what I was doing since the Wyndham. Obviously coming from links golf back out to throwing darts is a bit different technique-wise, turf-wise, so it took a little bit of readjusting, but I’ve got the hang of it,” said MacIntyre.

He leads the field in Strokes Gained: Approach The Green (6.825) and Strokes Gained: Putting (6.753).

This marks the Scot’s career low 36-hole score on the PGA Tour and his second 36-hole lead/co-lead in stroke-play events (2024 RBC Canadian Open/Won). He seeks his third win in his 76th start (2024 RBC Canadian Open, 2024 Genesis Scottish Open).

He has had five top-10 finishes in 21 starts this season, led by a runner-up finish at the US Open.

Reigning FedExCup champion and current points leader Scottie Scheffler carded a bogey-free 65 and lies in second place at 9-under. This is his 8th time in the top-5 after 36 holes this season, the most of any players on Tour. His second-round score marks his 15th consecutive round under par (last round over par: R3/2025 Travelers Championship/72/+2).

“Bogey-free is always nice,” said the American. “I would have liked to get to have gotten a couple better looks down the stretch, but didn’t hit as many fairways the last few holes, and out here with the way the holes are shaped, you’ve got to be in play, and did a good job of saving pars when I needed to on the back.”

2024 BMW Championship runner-up Ludvig Åberg of Sweden made one bogey and posted a 64 to move into third place at 8-under.

One shot further behind lies Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama who carded a 64, the only player still bogey-free through 36-holes.

Three-time FedExCup champion Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland fired an eagle at the par-5 16th as well as four birdies and a double bogey at the par-3 3rd for a 66. He lies in 11th place at 4-under.
