U.S. Open Final Qualifying: The Big Names Chasing Shinnecock Hills Spots on Monday

Ten sites, 36 holes, one day. Monday’s final qualifying wave features former major champions, proven PGA Tour winners, and elite amateurs all fighting for the last spots at Shinnecock Hills.

Monday’s final qualifying for the 126th U.S. Open sends players to 10 sites, nine in the United States and one in Canada, for 36 holes in a single day. The survivors earn the last spots at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in Southampton, N.Y., where the championship runs June 18–21. Golf Channel will carry 10 hours of coverage, from noon to 2 p.m. ET and again from 4 p.m. to midnight.

Several fields are strong. Springfield Country Club in Ohio, Lambton Golf & Country Club in Ontario, Lakes Golf & Country Club near Columbus, Hawks Ridge Golf Club in Georgia, Woodmont Country Club in Maryland, and Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento all feature players with major pedigree, recent PGA Tour wins, or both.

The full list of June 8 sites also includes Emerald Valley Golf Club, BallenIsles Country Club, Century Country Club, and Gaston Country Club.

Springfield Country Club, Ohio

Springfield’s field reads like a mid-season PGA Tour event. Tony Finau, a six-time PGA Tour winner who has played five U.S. Opens, headlines a group that includes Billy Horschel (eight PGA Tour wins, 2014 FedEx Cup champion), Brandt Snedeker (10 PGA Tour wins, former FedEx Cup champion), Taylor Pendrith (top-five finisher at this year’s PGA Championship), and Cameron Davis (two PGA Tour wins, Presidents Cup participant).

Springfield also rewards qualifying specialists. Nick Hardy has advanced through final qualifying five times, and Zac Blair was the medalist at this same site in 2024. With so many established players competing for a handful of spots, the margin for error is thin.

Lambton Golf & Country Club, Ontario

The lone Canadian site draws its own deep field, led by Max Homa, a six-time PGA Tour winner who has competed in seven U.S. Opens. Rasmus Hojgaard, who tied for 46th at last year’s U.S. Open at Oakmont, adds European Tour pedigree.

The field also includes several PGA Tour winners. Ricky Castillo won his first PGA Tour title at the Puerto Rico Open in March. Garrick Higgo has two PGA Tour wins. Camilo Villegas, with five career PGA Tour victories and a T9 at the 2008 U.S. Open, brings deep championship experience. And Beau Hossler, who briefly led the 2012 U.S. Open during round two as a 17-year-old, has played in five editions of the championship.

Lakes Golf & Country Club, Westerville, Ohio

Lucas Glover, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, is the headliner at the second Ohio site. He is joined by Davis Thompson (2024 John Deere Classic winner), Austin Eckroat (two PGA Tour wins, top-10 at the 2023 U.S. Open), and Brian Campbell, who has won twice on the PGA Tour in 2025.

Hawks Ridge Golf Club, Ball Ground, Georgia

Hawks Ridge fields a collection of veterans and one rising amateur. Jason Dufner, the 2013 PGA champion, competes alongside Chris Kirk (six PGA Tour wins), Stephan Jaeger (2024 Houston Open winner), Keith Mitchell (2019 Honda Classic winner), and Brendon Todd (three PGA Tour wins).

The amateur to watch is Tommy Morrison, a member of the 2025 USA Walker Cup team ranked No. 18 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

Woodmont Country Club, Rockville, Maryland

Woodmont tilts younger. Blades Brown, 19 years old and the youngest player to shoot 60 on the PGA Tour, is the most recognizable name. Michael Thorbjornsen, the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur champion, and Evan Beck, the 2024 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion, round out a field that blends PGA Tour upside with elite amateur credentials.

Del Paso Country Club, Sacramento

Del Paso pairs familiar names with a breakout amateur. Ricky Barnes finished T2 at the 2009 U.S. Open and won the 2002 U.S. Amateur. Michael Block, a fan favourite who has competed in two U.S. Opens, played his most recent at Shinnecock Hills in 2018 and knows the course.

The emerging name is Kihei Akina, a BYU freshman, USGA National Development Program member, and 2025 Utah Open winner who posted a top-10 finish at the 2026 NCAA Division I Championship.

How to Watch

Golf Channel’s coverage begins at noon ET on Monday and runs until 2 p.m., then picks up again from 4 p.m. through midnight. By the time the broadcast ends, the final spots at Shinnecock Hills will be set.
