Bryson DeChambeau secured automatic qualification for the 2025 Ryder Cup due to his performances in the majors.

Last year, he finished runner-up at the PGA Championship before winning the US Open. In 2025, while he didn’t add to his two major championships, the American was incredibly consistent.

He began by finishing T5 at the Masters, although it might have been better had he not suffered a final round collapse. This was followed by another runner-up finish at the PGA, this time to Scottie Scheffler.

DeChambeau failed to make the cut at the US Open and finished T10 at the Open, rebounding incredibly after an opening round of 78.

He ended up finishing sixth on the points list for Team USA, sealing a place at his third Ryder Cup.

What is DeChambeau’s record at the biennial competition, however? We at Golf Today take a look at his performances in both 2018 and 2021.

2018 Ryder Cup: Le Golf National

DeChambeau was a captain’s pick for the 2018 Ryder Cup held in France at Le Golf National.

He was one of three rookies on the away side and it was Team USA who were the defending champions heading into the event.

DeChambeau had to wait until the afternoon to make his Ryder Cup debut, partnering Phil Mickelson in the foursomes against Sergio Garcia and Alex Noren.

Things didn’t go quite to plan, however, as the Americans lost 5&4 and the rookie had to wait until Saturday afternoon to seek revenge.

He was paired with Tiger Woods this time, but once again suffered a heavy defeat as Tommy Fleetwood and Francesco Molinari prevailed 5&4.

The singles didn’t offer any reprieve either. Playing against Noren in the bottom match, the Swede sunk a monster putt at the last to beat the American, ensuring he failed to win a single point on his maiden appearance.

2021 Ryder Cup: Whistling Straits

Three years later, DeChambeau was one of more established members of Team USA. He had won the 2020 US Open and qualified third on the points list.

With Steve Stricker captaining the home side in his state of birth, it was clear the Americans were massive favourites.

DeChambeau was paired with Scheffler in both afternoon fourball matches, gaining a half point against Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton. They then defeated Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland 3&1 on Saturday afternoon.

Going out fourth in the singles, DeChambeau was up against European royalty in Garcia. He eventually won a crucial point that moved USA onto 14 points and within touching distance of claiming the trophy.

With 2.5 points from 3 matches, 2021 was far more productive than three years previously. Expect big things this year at Bethpage Black from the two-time major champion.
