Ewen Ferguson signed for a final round 70 to reach 7-under and win his maiden DP World Tour title by one-shot at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

“I just can’t believe it at all. Years and years of hard work.

“I think I’ve been in contention enough now on the Challenge Tour and out here at the start of this year a little bit, and I just managed to deal with it today.

“I’m obviously a winner now – it’s incredible.

“I got here earlier today because (coach Jamie Gough) said ‘your chipping’s not good enough’.

“Worked on it, worked on it and chipped in today and played a decent chip on the last.”

The Scotsman started the day three shots behind co-leaders Adrian Meronk of Poland and Englishman Matthew Jordan but in spite of a double bogey at the par-4 2nd, Ferguson was able to pull ahead with two birdies and a chip-in eagle at the par-4 16th to take the clubhouse lead.

American Chase Hanna, playing with Ferguson, took second place with a final 71 followed by Sweden’s Marcus Kinhult (71) and Meronk (75) in third place at 5-under.

Seven players tied for fifth at 4-under including 36-hole leader Pablo Larrazábal of Spain who closed with a 74 and Jordan who carded a 76.
