Grant Thornton Invitational R3

Andrew Novak of the United States and Lauren Coughlin of the United States pose with the trophy after winning the Grant Thornton Invitational

Lauren Coughlin and Andrew Novak entered the final round of the Grant Thornton Invitational with a one-stroke lead and posted a bogey-free, 9-under 63 in Modified Four-Ball to win by a tournament-record three strokes.

“I think we kind of knew we had a lot of holes left, so we knew that we could make plenty of birdies coming in, we’ll have plenty of chances,” said Coughlin. “Andrew putted really great today, made a lot of birdies for us. So yeah, it was a lot of fun.

“I had some pressure taken off of me I think coming down the stretch. Lauren’s probably the single most reliable golfer I’ve ever played with. I knew no matter what I was going to be hitting from the fairway. So I had a little rough patch off the tee in the middle, but kind of got it squared away on the back nine. Yeah, we were able to ring off some birdies.”

At 28-under 188, they set a new tournament scoring record previously held by Patty Tavatanakit/Jake Knapp (189/2024).

Novak finished No. 25 in the 2025 FedExCup standings after posting six top-10 finishes in 27 starts, led by a victory at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans (with teammate Ben Griffin).

Coughlin, a two-time winner on the LPGA, had five top-10 finishes in 22 starts this season.

Jennifer Kupcho and Chris Gotterup tied for second place alongside Nelly Korda and Denny McCarthy after both teams carded bogey-free 63s as well as Charley Hull and Michael Brennan who posted a bogey-free 65.

Defending champions Patty Tavatanakit and Jake Knapp closed with a bogey-free 62 and finished ninth at 21-under.
