Jordan Gumberg fired three birdies and one bogey to close with a 2-under 70 at the Blackstone Course and win the Hainan Classic by one shot at 19-under.

Gumberg has had good form in recently, he held on to his DP World Tour card thanks to a hole-out eagle at the final hole of the Genesis Championship in South Korea last Autumn.

“It feels unbelievable, this is a dream-come-true week, said the American.

“After the finish of last year, to be standing on the podium again and holding a trophy is unreal, it’s incredible.

Gumberg has had one previous win on the DP World Tour, at the 2024 SDC Championship in South Africa.

“Two years ago I won my first event, I wasn’t actually a member of the Tour at that point, I was playing on sponsor invites, it was kind of a whirlwind of a change of schedule and being able to be a DP World Tour player,” said Gumberg.

“The first year was kind of me learning the ropes and learning the golf courses, and it took a while. There’s a big learning curve – I mean, these guys are good! Every player in this field is a hell of a player and can win.”

Overnight co-leader Jorge Campillo of Spain fired three birdies and two bogeys for a 71 and finished second at 18-under.

England’s Marcus Armitage had stayed bogeys free and made five birdies before a double bogey at the par-4 18th for a 69 saw him finish T3 at 15-under.

The UAE’s Adrian Otaegui carded a bogey-free 64 featuring an eagle at the par-5 12th for a share of third place alongside China’s 17-year-old Yanhan Zhou who made five birdies and two bogeys for a 69.

At the Genesis Championship in October last year, Jordan Gumberg was sitting 127th in the Race to Dubai Rankings.
