Charley Hull is ready to battle it out with major champion Georgia Hall at the prestigious Riyadh Golf Club. Taking place from 31 October to 2 November, the tournament promises to be a captivating conclusion to the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF.
Both Hull and Hall have made waves as key players on the international stage, representing Team Europe in this year’s Solheim Cup and Team GB in Paris. They will be joined by Alison Lee of the United States and Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit, creating a superb lineup that promises exceptional golf.
Hull, in particular, has an impressive track record within the Series, with nine top-ten finishes in just ten appearances, including a spectacular win at the individual title in New York in 2021.
“Competing in Riyadh at the Aramco Team Series this year is a fantastic opportunity for me,” Hull shared. Her recent performances put her in good stead coming into the finale, having finished second in both Tampa and Korea. “I feel my game is in great shape, and I’m eager to turn those near misses into a win.”
Since the launch of women’s professional golf in Saudi Arabia in 2020, Hull has participated in the Kingdom eight times, including both this Series and the Aramco Saudi Ladies International. Her firsthand experience has allowed her to witness the remarkable growth of the sport in the region. As a newly appointed Golf Saudi ambassador, Hull expressed her gratitude for the ongoing efforts to broaden access to golf, particularly for women and girls.
“The work that Golf Saudi continue to do in introducing more women and girls to the game through these events and beyond is inspiring, and the legacy they are creating is one I’m incredibly grateful to be a part of,” she remarked.
Hull emphasised the significant strides made since her initial appearance, noting, “The sport has grown leaps and bounds here.” Last year’s shift of tournaments to Riyadh further reflects the Kingdom’s growing passion for golf, with increasingly enthusiastic crowds coming out to support the athletes.
Hall, another powerhouse in women’s golf, knows a thing or two about winning. She took home the trophy at the 2023 Aramco Team Series in London and triumphed at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International in Jeddah in 2022. Yet, her competitive spirit is steadfast. After narrowly missing out on repeating her team success in London, losing in a gripping three-hole playoff, Hall is eager to clinch her first individual title in Riyadh.
“The playoff loss in London was hard, especially after coming so close to defending our team title, but it’s moments like those that fuel my determination,” Hall reflected, her resolve palpable. “I’m more motivated than ever to secure another Aramco Team Series title, and Riyadh is the perfect stage for that. I’m looking forward to the challenge and putting on a great performance for the fans.”
The Aramco Team Series grand finale will feature the player and fan-favourite format, bringing together 28 teams for three days of competitive play. The tournament not only showcases world-class talent but also invites fans to engage with the sport in a new way. A state-of-the-art fan zone will be set up at Riyadh Golf Club, allowing spectators to test their skills while enjoying the action on the course.
This initiative is part of Golf Saudi’s GOGOLF program, which aims to make golf accessible and enjoyable for all ages. Fans will have the opportunity to receive tips to enhance their game or even try their hand at golf for the first time.
As the countdown to the series finale begins, all eyes will be on Hull and Hall, both of whom are poised for a fiercely competitive showdown that could determine the Aramco Team Series champion.
