PGA Tour rookie Pierceson Coody posted a bogey-free, 11-under 61, his low round on Tour, in his 74th official round to take his first lead by three shots at the ISCO Championship.

"I've been putting really nice all season. It's kind of a core set if you keep it in play, keep it in front of you, you have a lot of wedges, you end up with a lot of looks for birdie and it's just one of those days that I saw a ton of putts go in.

"I'm trying to run my own race. I didn't start the season the way I wanted to, it was really slow. I've had some tournaments where I've kind of flashed a little bit. I'm just trying to keep improving my form. I know we still have, including the fall, 10 events or so, so I'm just trying to run my own race and see where I end up at the end of the year."

Coody leads the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (4.230); T1 in Scrambling (6 of 6).

Fellow rookie Rico Hoey from the Philippies carded a bogey-free 64 featuring an eagle at the par-5 8th for a share of second place at 8-under alongside American Hayden Springer who led after the first round at last week's John Deere Classic after carding a 59.

"It was a great day," said Hoey. I" knew the scores were going to be low today
so I wanted to go out and start firing and that's what I did so I'm happy to do that.

"The weather was really nice. The wind wasn't too crazy, it was swirling a little bit but it was pretty calm out there. Greens were soft enough to where you can go attack and
yeah, conditions were really good. So it was one of those days where you had to take
advantage and that's what I did."

After a missed cut in his final start on a Medical Extension last week, America Lanto Griffin tied his lowest score this season with a 65 for a share of fourth place at 7-under with England's Andy Sullivan and Andrew Wilson, Americans Justin Suh and Ryan McCormick, Italian's Andrea Pavan and Francesco Laporta and Spain's Ángel Hidalgo Portillo.
