LIV Golf Hong Kong 2026 Review: Rahm Triumphs As 4Aces End Long Wait

Jon Rahm ended a 539-day wait for an individual victory with a dominant win at LIV Golf Hong Kong, while Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC secured their first team title in 974 days with a strong final-round performance.

The long waits ended in unison on a humid Sunday afternoon in Hong Kong. Jon Rahm rediscovered the winner’s circle while Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces GC finally tasted team success again, both droughts washed away by commanding performances at HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong 2026.

For Rahm the victory carried particular weight. The Spaniard had gone 539 days without lifting an individual trophy. The last time he celebrated a LIV Golf win came in September 2024 in Chicago. Since then the Legion XIII captain had remained one of the league’s most reliable forces yet the victories had slipped through his fingers.

That narrative changed emphatically at Hong Kong Golf Club.

Rahm Delivers Composed Final Round To Seal Victory at LIV Golf Hong Kong

Rahm delivered a composed final round of 6-under 64 to reach 23-under-par and seal a three-shot victory. It was a performance that reflected both patience and control, particularly after he had finished runner-up in each of the opening two LIV Golf events of the new season.

The win also snapped a run of 26 consecutive starts worldwide without a title, the longest dry spell of Rahm’s professional career.

Rahm, the league’s reigning two-time Individual Champion, said:

“It’s very relieving. That’s the only way I can describe it. I’ve been very ecstatic for wins in the past. This one just feels like a big weight off my shoulder. That’s all I can say.”

A Difficult Week Turns Into A Winning One

The week itself had hardly unfolded smoothly. Early on Rahm had helped arrange private flights for several LIV Golf players stranded in the Middle East following regional disruption. By Thursday his own preparations had been disrupted by a frustrating warm-up session that left him searching for rhythm.

By Sunday evening that frustration felt a long way away.

Rahm’s Charge On The Final Day

Rahm began the final round tied at the top with Thomas Detry and Smash GC’s Harold Varner III. Four birdies in his opening eight holes quickly established momentum before a bogey at the ninth briefly steadied the field.

Through 13 holes the lead remained fragile. Thomas Pieters, playing a group ahead, had edged to within a shot. Then came the moment that swung the tournament decisively.

Rahm’s gap wedge from 90 yards at the par-4 14th settled seven feet from the flag. The putt dropped for birdie. Moments later Pieters made bogey at the 15th. In the space of a few minutes the contest tilted firmly toward the Spaniard.

By the time Rahm stood on the 18th tee the margin had stretched to five strokes. The celebration that followed felt overdue.

Rahm’s Consistency Continues On LIV Golf

The victory also maintained Rahm’s remarkable consistency within LIV Golf. Since joining the league he has now captured four regular-season tournament wins, two season-long Individual Championships and helped guide Legion XIII to last year’s Team Championship.

His reliability is equally visible in the numbers. Rahm’s streak of 21 consecutive rounds under par now matches the LIV Golf record he previously set.

4Aces Celebrate Long Awaited Team Victory

While Rahm dominated the individual contest the team spotlight belonged to the 4Aces.

Once the league’s early powerhouse the Johnson-led side had endured a long wait for another trophy. Their last victory had arrived in London in June 2023. That drought stretched to 974 days before ending in Hong Kong.

Johnson said:

“To finally get a win after a few years without having one, very proud of the guys. Obviously, we have a completely new team, but I think we have a very strong team. I’m very happy with them.”

A Revitalised Line Up Powers The 4Aces

The win reflected both experience and fresh energy within the roster. Johnson and Pieters remained from the original core while off-season arrival Thomas Detry and returning star Anthony Kim have injected new life into the line-up.

The quartet combined for a remarkable 16-under total in the final round to secure a six-shot victory over Smash GC.

Johnson set the tone with a 5-under 65. Kim and Pieters both carded 66 while Detry added a 4-under 67 as the 4Aces surged clear late in the day.

Anthony Kim Thriving In Team Environment

Kim’s contribution carried extra significance. The American had spent his first two LIV Golf seasons competing as an independent Wild Card player before finally joining Johnson’s team earlier this year.

He had already captured headlines in Adelaide with a stunning individual victory, defeating Rahm after shooting a brilliant closing 9-under 63 while the Spaniard struggled to a 1-over 71.

Kim said:

“After Adelaide, the first couple days seemed pretty surreal. Obviously we all play to win, right? But now with LIV Golf, there’s two elements. You get to win with three other guys that you’re battling with. This is pretty special.”

Sunday in Hong Kong offered a different perspective. Kim’s birdie at the penultimate hole pushed the 4Aces into the lead for good before Detry followed with another birdie soon after, sealing the team triumph.

“It’s a different feeling,” Kim had said earlier in the week about joining the roster. After years competing alone the team environment now feels natural.

Thomas Detry Impresses In LIV Golf Hong Kong

Detry’s arrival has also proved influential. The Belgian, a long-time friend of Pieters, finished seventh in his debut LIV appearance in Riyadh before producing another impressive performance in Hong Kong. His birdie at the final hole secured second place individually while he also led the field in Strokes Gained Putting at +7.66.

His journey to Hong Kong was itself dramatic. Detry had been among several players stranded in the Middle East earlier in the week and ultimately travelled on a private plane arranged by Rahm.

Notable Performances Across The Leaderboard

Behind the leaders several notable performances emerged.

Pieters finally stepped onto the podium after eight previous top-10 finishes without breaking into the top three, claiming solo third place. RangeGoats GC’s Matthew Wolff enjoyed his best finish since LIV Golf Miami in 2024, producing a closing 5-under 65 and finishing inside the top five after three rounds of 65 or better.

Pieters commented:

“I played very, very good all week. Obviously I can’t control the fact that Jon is unbelievable at golf.”

Tournament Stats And Standout Numbers

The scoring conditions proved generous across the field. Only one player, Sam Horsfield, finished the week over par which tied the LIV Golf record for fewest players above par in a tournament.

Elsewhere Harold Varner III compiled 24 birdies across the week, the highest total of his LIV Golf career. Joaquin Niemann’s streak of 17 consecutive rounds under par ended with a closing 2-over 72, while Caleb Surratt climbed to 18th despite opening with a 5-over round that left him near the bottom of the leaderboard.

Southern Guards GC quietly delivered one of the most precise team performances, hitting 78.1% of their fairways which marked the highest accuracy rate the team has recorded in a tournament.

LIV Golf Hong Kong Ends With Two Long Awaited Celebrations

Yet the story of the week belonged to two celebrations long overdue. Rahm stood alone atop the leaderboard once more. Nearby the 4Aces lifted their team trophy again. Two droughts. One emphatic Sunday in Hong Kong.
