The fifth event of the 2025 LIV Golf League takes place in Miami this week, with several players using it as a warmup for the Masters.
This will be the first opportunity of the year for those on both sides of the divide to reunite at Augusta National for the first major championship of 2025.
In total, 12 LIV players will tee it up at the Masters. Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm, Charl Schwartzel, Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson are all past winners of the competition.
Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau have all won majors since 2022, securing their spot in the field, while Joaquin Niemann was given a special invite and Tyrrell Hatton finished in the top ten last year.
Niemann sits top of the individual standings after winning two of the opening four events of the season. The Chilean could spring a surprise challenge at Augusta, especially given his recent form.
Fireballs GC have streaked clear at the top of the team standings, winning titles in Adelaide, Hong Kong and Singapore. Could Garcia lead his side to yet another win in Miami?
The Blue Monster course becomes the first to hold a LIV Golf event four times and the field face a tough task at Trump National Doran this week.
Course details: Trump National Doral (Blue Monster course)
The Par 72, 7,701 yard course is indeed a monster. Last year, Dean Burmester won with a score of 11-under and was only one of three players to finish double digits under par in the Sunshine State.
Trump National Doral Miami featured in Golf Digest’s top 100 resorts in 2019. The Blue Monster Course is its jewel in the crown.
Designed by Dick Wilson, the course was host to the Doral Open on the PGA Tour between 1962 and 2006. It then hosted the WGC-Cadillac Championship – which used to be held across different venues in Europe and the USA – between 2007 and 2016.
The course features a large number of water hazards throughout its layout. Indeed, water comes into play on nine tee shots, most notably the 18th.
LIV Golf Miami 2025: Format and prize fund
LIV Golf Miami will be played over 54 holes across three days, with a shotgun start each day and no cut.
Every player in a team competes in two competitions simultaneously – individual and team – with each stroke counting in the individual event, whereas only the combined scores of the team’s top three players count for the opening two rounds.
All four scores count in the final round of each event.
There is a $25m prize fund on offer. $20m is assigned to the individual competition, with $5m going towards the team event.
The winner will take home a $4m share, with last place earning $50,000. In the team event, £3m goes to the winning foursome as the second and third place finishers win $1.5m and $500,000 respectively.
How to watch LIV Golf Miami
Viewers in the US can watch all of the action on Fox Sports. Those in the UK will now be able to watch the entire 2025 season on ITVX due to the new broadcasting deal that was agreed in February.
