The LIV Golf Team Championship takes place in Michigan this week and it marks the end of the 2025 season.
Last year, Ripper GC with Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman, Lucas Herbert and Matt Jones, won the tournament in Dallas. This year, there will be a few tweaks to the format.

A play-in match will be introduced on Wednesday between the two lowest seeds entering the week and this will remove first-round byes for the top seeds.
All 48 players from the 12 remaining teams will compete across two days of match play on Friday and Saturday. The finale takes place on Sunday and will be a stroke-play format.
Furthermore, the higher-seeded team captain for each match play contest will be able to see his opponent’s lineup before picking his own side, giving him an advantage.
LIV Golf Team Championship format 2025
Wednesday, August 20 – Play-in match
Teams that occupy 12th and 13th in the standings face off against each other in this elimination round.
Three points will be available and this round will consist of two singles matches and one foursomes match. The first team to reach two points will emerge victorious.
Friday, August 22 – Quarter-finals (match play)
On Friday, the remaining 12 teams will compete in the quarter-finals and these will be match play contests.
The higher-ranked team captain will choose the matchups. In terms of format, there will be two singles clashes before a foursomes tie. The winner will be the first team to win two points.
Saturday, August 23 (match play)
Six winning teams from Friday’s quarter-final matches advance to the Championship Bracket. Elsewhere, the six losing sides continue to play in the Rankings Bracket.
Both of these brackets follow the same format that was used on Friday and the matchups are selected by the captains of the higher-ranked teams.
The three winning teams from the Championship Bracket will play for the Team Championship title.
Sunday, August 24 (stroke play)
The final day will see all 48 players compete in a stroke play format, with each team’s score comprised of all four player scores on the team.

Every team will then earn final positions based on their finishes within the respective tiers.
• 1st-3rd – Championship Bracket Finalists
• 4th-6th – Losing teams from the Championship Bracket Semifinals
• 7th-9th – Winning teams from the Rankings Bracket
• 10th-12th – Losing teams from the Rankings Bracket
The 2025 LIV Golf Team Championship winner will be the team with the lowest total score among the Championship Bracket finalists.
Will Ripper GC defend their title? Or will the likes of Legion XIII, Fireballs GC or Crushers GC secure the trophy?
The final event of 2025 promises to be an exhilarating watch.
