LIV Golf League team Fireballs GC are certainly on fire after an impressive start to the 2025 season.
With LIV Miami the next event on the calendar, Fireballs GC have claimed the team title across the previous three tournaments.
In Adelaide, they won by six strokes over the Jon Rahm-led Legion XIII, while it was closer in Hong Kong, prevailing over Stinger GC by just a single stroke.
Not content with back-to-back team titles, Sergio Garcia led his side to a stunning hattrick of wins at the LIV Golf Singapore event last month. They once again got the better of Legion XII, this time by three strokes.
Such is their consistency, Fireballs GC lead the team standings by a whopping 18 points and they aren’t showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.
With Garcia leading the Fireballs, they will be determined to maintain this excellent run of form over the next few events.
Who else makes up the team, however? We at Golf Today profile each member of Fireballs GC in our latest edition of the team profile series.
Who are the Fireballs GC LIV Golf team?
Fireballs GC is led by Garcia, while David Puig, Luis Masaveu and Abraham Ancer fill in the rest of the spots.
Sergio Garcia
What can be said of the Spaniard that hasn’t already been stated before? The 1999 PGA Championship announced Garcia as a potential long term rival to Tiger Woods, despite losing the tournament by a single stroke to the American.
This defeat affected Garcia heavily as he never really challenged Woods again in a major championship. Indeed, it took the Spaniard 18 years to finally breakthrough on the biggest stage, winning the 2017 Masters title.
In 2022, Garcia joined LIV, becoming one of the first high-profile names to defect to the breakaway league. Since then, he has won two individual titles – Andalucía in 2024 and Hong Kong a few weeks ago – while he finished third in the Individual standings for the 2024 season.
Given his recent form, could Garcia be set for a stunning Ryder Cup appearance later this year?
David Puig
Puig became the first college golfer to sign a contract with LIV Golf, joining in 2022 after spending time at Arizona State University.
He played eight events in the league’s inaugural season, some as an amateur, before he turned professional at the Chicago event in September 2022.
Puig was a part of Joaquin Niemann’s Torque GC team for the 2023 season, but linked up with his compatriot at Fireballs ahead of the 2024 campaign.
His best finish last year was a T3 at the Houston event, although he has begun 2025 in encouraging fashion. Across the four events to date, he has yet to finish outside of the top 20.
Surely a first individual victory is fast approaching?
Abraham Ancer
Ancer had plenty of pedigree before switching from the PGA Tour to the LIV Golf league in 2022. He had won the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational in August 2021 and seemed primed for more success in America.
His best season came last year. The Mexican finally won an individual event, claiming victory in Hong Kong via a playoff over Paul Casey and Cameron Smith. He ended up finishing 12th in the end of season standings.
A second place finish in Adelaide earlier this year has been his best result of the 2025 season so far. Across 12 rounds, Ancer has only shot over par twice. Showing some wonderful consistency for Fireballs GC.
Luis Masaveu
Masaveu enjoyed a successful amateur career before turning professional in 2024. Before joining Fireballs GC, the Spaniard tied for ninth at the International series Qatar.
He replaced Eugenio Chacarra ahead of the current season and has enjoyed a solid start to life in the LIV Golf league.
Finishes of T33, T37, T42 and a T14 result at the recent Singapore event prove just how much of an asset he could be to Garcia’s team this season.
