Jeongeun Lee6 opened with a bogey-free 64 to take the lead at the CME Group Tour Championship on Thursday, hitting every fairway and green in regulation.

“I had a good time today. My goal was free (of) bogeys, so, yeah, I achieved it. My feel is getting better, so my goal is to win once this year, but unfortunately just one tournament left. I’m going to try my best.”
It’s the fourth time in her career on the LPGA Tour that the South Korean player has hit every green in regulation but the first she has hit every fairway in the same round.

2019 champion Sei Young Kim, of South Korea, lies one shot back in a share of second place alongside France’s Celine Boutier and Americans Mina Harigae and Jennifer Kupcho, all three bogey-free.
“Honestly, I feel like the course was just set up pretty easy. Preparing for rain moved a lot of tees up, as well as put the pins right in the middle of the green I feel like so it was pretty attackable,” said Kupcho. “I wasn’t hitting it really well but made a lot of putts.”
LPGA Tour Championship 2021 R1
Kim holds the longest active streak on Tour for consecutive seasons with a win and is hoping to increase it to seven.
Eight players are tied in sixth place at 6-under including World Number 1 and last week’s winner Nelly Korda.
“I think I just struck it really well. I gave myself some good looks inside 10 feet,” said Korda. “Two oopsies with two three-putts, but I think I hit a majority of the greens and gave myself some really good looks.”
