Harry Hall opened with a flawless 7-under 64 featuring an eagle at the par-5 6th to take a share of the lead at the Mexico Open at VidantaWorld.
“I made a nice few putts, and that chip-in for eagle on 6 was really nice. Just had a good attitude,” said the Englishman.
“I did what I needed to before that little stretch because it’s gettable. I think I was 4 under playing it and I knew that they’re birdie holes and you want to at least go through those holes 2 under and I played 1 and that was nice.
“This is my third time here and I just think the resort is fantastic. It’s massive, so I’ve been in the city, and the food’s great and the people are really nice and friendly and they’ve got a good operation going on down here, and the course is nice, so I obviously like it.”
Hall holds his third 18-hole lead/co-lead on Tour and his second this season. He is 0-for-2 to date having finished T3 at the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge and T10 at the 2025 Sony Open in Hawaii.
Germany’s Jeremy Paul fired two eagles at the par-4 7th and par-5 12th but also made a bogey at the 8th for his share of the lead.
64 is his career-low 18-hole score and he holds the lead for the first time in his 11th round and fourth start on the PGA Tour. since earning his membership after finishing 21st on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Points List.
Norway’s Kris Ventura closed with a bogey at the 9th for his career low opening-round score to take his first lead after any round on Tour. He is returning to the Tour for the first time since 2021 having played back-to-back seasons in 2019-20 and 2020-21. Ventura finished No. 24 on the 2024 Korn Ferry Tour Points List to earn his membership for the second time.
Argentina’s Alejandro Tosti signed for a bogey-free 65 to take a share of fourth place at 6-under alongside Americans Brian Campbell and Patrick Fishburn as well as South African Aldrich Potgieter.
