Johannes Veerman started the day five strokes behind the lead at the Nedbank Golf Challenge and fired six birdies and three bogeys to set the clubhouse target at 5-under.
The American was finally confirmed as the winner when overnight leader Aldrich Potgieter of South Africa capped off a round that featured a double bogey at the par-4 3rd and a triple bogey at the par-3 12th with bogeys at the 16th and 18th for a 75 to finish in a share of second place at 4-under.
This was Veerman’s second DP World Tour title following the 2021 D+D Real Czech Masters.
“I didn’t have the best seasons the last two years. I put a lot of work in, me and my team – countless hours,” sad Veerman.
“To win this season, to start off this season with a win is indescribable.
“I knew I had a chance but actually thought I might have lost it on the 16th when I three-putted and missed that putt. That one really hurt but it doesn’t even matter!”
England’s Matthew Jordan shot a final round 72 having made two birdies and two bogeys for his share of second place alongside France’s Romain Langasque whose 71 featured four birdies and three bogeys.
Denmark’s Thorbjørn Olesen rounds out the top-5 at 3-under after making six birdies, a bogey and a triple bogey at the par-4 3rd for a 70.
