Team Thomas takes opening lead in Florida

PNC Championship R1

Justin Thomas and his club professional father Mike opened with a 15-under 57 to take a two-shot lead in the PNC Championship.

The duo won the PNC Championship two years ago when Charlie Woods played for the first time and took the opportunity to tease Team Woods.

“They rubbed it in our face over Christmas dinner. They are in a great position to possibly do it again on Christmas dinner,” said Tiger. “But we are going to have a little something to say about that.”

Team Woods holds a share of second place at 13-under alongside Team Singh in spite of Tiger’s plantar fasciitis in his right foot and Charlie’s hurt left ankle.

“It’s what I’ve been saying. I can hit the ball, I just have a tougher time getting from Point A to Point B,” said Woods. “I’ve had a frustrating couple years. But again, to be able to be a part of this game and to be able to do this, I’ve missed being able to compete and play.”

“On some shots it hurt a lot. Walking was tough,” said Charlie. “But it was all right. It wasn’t that bad.”
