Robert MacIntyre signed for a flawless 66 on Friday to take a share of the lead at 10-under at the RBC Canadian Open in Ontario.
“I think I’m playing nicely. When I’m in position off the tee I’ve got, I think I’ve been, approach play has been pretty good. I’ve been giving myself a lot of chances. When I missed the green I’ve had a good short game. To be honest, I think I’ve missed it in the right spots. I miss it fat side of the green, not short sided and we can kind of run it. If not, we fly it over it. But, no, I think overall it’s been a good two days.”
This is the Scot’s first 36-hole lead/co-lead on the PGA Tour and his 130 marks his best opening 36-hole score on Tour.
New Zealand’s Ryan Fox carded a 64 marred by a single bogey at the 6th for his own first 36-hole lead/co-lead and best opening 36-hole score on Tour.
“To be honest, almost everything has [clicked this week]. I drove it great, I hit my irons really good, and had a few more putts drop today. It could have been really silly, but I still had a lot of good putts. If you would have given me 64 to start the day I certainly would have taken.
“I’ve enjoyed my time so far here. Golf course kind of suits my eye. Similar grass to what we play at home. Similar kind of old style, tree-lined golf course, which is what I grew up on. Hopefully I can keep it rolling over the weekend like that.”
Joel Dahmen shot a bogey-free 65 to move into third place at 8-under ahead of fellow American Andrew Novak in a share of fourth place at 7-under after a 67 featured a double bogey at the par-4 3rd and an eagle at the par-5 4th.
Also tied in fourth place is the low Canadian on the leaderboard, Mackenzie Hughes whose 64 comprised of two eagles at the par-4 12th and the par-5 4th as well as five birdies and three bogeys.
Defending champion Nick Taylor, who became the first Canadian to win the event since 1954, missed the cut by three shots after rounds of 72-71.
