Shane Lowry is gearing up for an exciting return to the United Arab Emirates, confirming his participation in the upcoming Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, taking place from 7-10 November and marking the opening event of the DP World Tour Play-Offs.
Lowry, who snagged the prestigious Falcon Trophy in 2019, is no stranger to success in the UAE, having become a Major Champion just six months later with his memorable win at The 148th Open.
Joining Lowry in this stellar lineup are fellow Major winners Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Adam Scott, and Ryder Cup teammate Tommy Fleetwood, all set to compete at the picturesque Yas Links.
At 37, Lowry has had an impressive 2024 season, with 13 top-20 finishes worldwide. He recently celebrated a sixth-place finish at both The 152nd Open and the US PGA Championship and teamed up with McIlroy to clinch victory at the PGA TOUR’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
“I’m thrilled to end my season in the UAE, starting with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links,” Lowry said. “It’s always special to return to a place where I’ve found success, and I’m hoping to cap off the year on a high note!”
The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is a key event in the DP World Tour Play-Offs, welcoming the top 70 players from the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex. The top 50 players at the end of the week will advance to the grand finale, the DP World Tour Championship.
Also confirmed for this year’s tournament are Genesis Scottish Open champion Robert MacIntyre, a 2023 Ryder Cup representative, and Thriston Lawrence, currently ranked second in the Race to Dubai Rankings.
Beyond world-class golf, Yas Links will host a full lineup of family-friendly activities, including dedicated children’s programs and the ever-popular Ladies Day and Family Day on the weekend.
