Nacho Elvira started the day with a one shot lead at the Soudal Open and produced three consecutive birdies from the first hole. He made three more as well as two bogeys, his first of the tournament, to close with a 67 and take a four-shot lead at 18-under into the final day at Rinkven International GC.
“I started pretty solid with three birdies in a row,” said the Spaniard. “Hitting the ball well and quite in control. At the end of the day I was maybe a little bit tired and started swinging it worse than in the beginning but I managed to save a couple of pars and make a couple of birdies.
“My approach game this week has been fantastic. I’m also putting really well so that helps. As long as I can hit it pretty straight off the tee I think I can make myself a lot of opportunities.”
England’s Joe Dean and Ross Fisher are tied in second place at 14-under after rounds of 66 and 70 respectively. Denmark’s Niklas Norgaard shot a 67 and Romain Langasque a 68 for their share of second place.
