LIV Golf relegation: Which golfers are in danger this season?

As the 2025 LIV Golf season heads into the final two events, there are several big names who could be relegated

No points - no plan - no possibilities?

The 2025 LIV Golf league is almost over. it doesn’t feel that long ago that Saudi Arabia staged the very first event of the season back in February.

Since then, Joaquin Niemann has established himself at the top of the individual standings as he chases a maiden LIV Golf crown.

Elsewhere, Adrian Meronk, Sergio Garcia, Patrick Reed, Marc Leishman, Talor Gooch and Bryson DeChambeau have all claimed solitary victories throughout year. They will have a difficult job catching Niemann, however.

With just two events remaining in the race for that title, focus is also on the relegation zone.

At the end of the season, the top 24 players will keep their place ahead of 2026. Those finishing the individual season between 25th and 48th are in the ‘Open Zone’.

These players are safe, but can be traded or re-signed by their respective teams. The golfers finishing 49th or lower are relegated from the LIV Golf League.

Ahead of the final two events, several big name players are in danger of being relegated.

The LIV Golfers that are in danger of relegation

Anthony Kim

Kim’s long awaited return to professional golf hasn’t quite gone as anticipated. Signed as a wildcard in 2024 on a two-year deal, Kim was exempt from relegation last year.

This year, however, is a different story. His highest finish was T25 in Dallas a few weeks ago.

After 11 events, Kim has earned zero points and is staring at the barrel. What might have been?

Ian Poulter

Poulter finds himself in 51st position heading into the final two events having won just 4.5 points in 2025.

The Englishman hasn’t finished in the top-ten of a tournament throughout the entire season. Unless he performs well in both Chicago and Illinois, it will be curtains for Poulter.

Henrik Stenson

The 2016 Open champion hasn’t fared much better than Poulter this year. With just 5.52 points, he sits 47th in the standings.

One or two solid tournaments should see him regain his status for 2026, but if others below him take advantage, Stenson could suffer relegation.

Mito Pereira

Its safe to say the other Chilean golfer in the LIV Golf League hasn’t had the same level of success as Niemann.

Indeed, Pereira has won a measly 0.60 points all year and looks set to be relegated by his team.

Frederik Kjettrup

The Dane was signed by Cleeks GC, who are led by Martin Kaymer, ahead of the 2025 season. Things haven’t went well, however.

He has failed to secure a single point and his stay on the Saudi-backed league is set to be a short one.
