October 22-25
Sherwood Country Club, Thousand Oaks, California
$8,000,000
Round 2, Round 3, Round 4

Sebastián Muñoz finished his first round of the Zozo Championship in the lead with an 8-under 64 in a round that included two eagles, two bogeys, a double bogeys and eight birdies.

“Not a normal round,” he said.

One shot behind Muñoz are Tyrell Hatton, who won the BMW PGA Championship two weeks ago and tied for third at last week's CJ Cup, and Justin Thomas, who shot 29 on the back nine on Thursday.

Tiger Woods is playing in his first event since the U.S. Open last month, and defending his first title since 2014. He shot 4-over 76, his worst score in forty nine rounds at Sherwood Country Club where he has won and been a runner-up five times each.

Woods was not the only player who faltered. Rory McIlroy closed with a 73 and last week's PGA Tour Champions winner Phil Mickelson shot a 72 after birdies on four of his last eight holes.

Jason Day, who withdrew from the CJ Cup on Sunday with a neck injury, was bogey free and closed with a 4-under 68, just five shots off the lead.

“It's fine. Just obviously not 100 percent, but I've got to just keep pushing through it. It's a quick turnaround, you know what I mean? I understand kind of what I need to do, so I've got to just keep getting treatment and keep moving on. I think overall I'm glad that I got through today, which was good.”
