Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele look set for a wire-to-wire win in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. They carded a 12-under 60 in best-ball play on Saturday, including an 8-under 28 back nine.

“We made more birdies than the rest of the field, I guess,” said Schauffele. “Not as many as Thursday, but it was pretty windy and we sort of got our grip on the front nine, stayed very patient. Pat’s eagle kind of helped kick start the push, I guess, and Pat made a lot of nice birdies there coming to finish the round.
“Watching really good golf and being a part of really good golf like Pat is playing right now is very helpful. It’s nice to see good shots, and it’s even better when they count for your score. I’m just patient. It’s the same thing as how we play every tournament. Just kind of plotting along. I just knew I had to stay patient and had to go on my own run.”

The Americans, who opened on Thursday with a 59, now take a five-shot lead into the final day at 29-under breaking the 54-hole record of 23-under.
The 72-hole record of 27-under was set in 2017, the first year the event was played in the team format, by Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown.
“We’re going to stay patient and try and hit the right shot all day and stay really present,” said Cantlay of their plan for the final day. “We did a good job of that today. Even when we got off to a slower start, we just stayed really present and tried to do the best we could. It’s all cliches at this point, but that’s really what it is.”
South Africans Garrick Higgo and Branden Grace scored a 63 and lie in second place at 24-under.
Americans Sam Burns and Billy Horschel (63) sit in third place at 23-under alongside Australians Jason Scrivener and Jason Day (63) as well as Englishman Aaron Rai and American David Lipsky (65).
