Scott Piercy closed with a 66 after a rain delay on Saturday at TPC Twin Cities in spite of playing with a painful blister. He leads the 3M Open by four shots with an 18-under, 195 total.

“It feels great. I obviously would have liked to have kind of finished off the
last hole a little bit better. My goal, once I got off to kind of a good start, was to get to 21 and keep the pedal to the metal and just try to go. The last four, five holes, kind of some tired swings and a little bit of mental grind today. So I’m happy that I actually gained a stroke from three to four and let’s go do it again tomorrow.

“Yesterday I wore a new pair of shoes and kind of rubbed my heel, kind of
a dime-sized, nickel-sized blister on the back of my heel. Tried to do some stuff last night to doctor it up to get ready and just every move the shoe made was painful, so I just took it off. Didn’t hurt to walk without it, so I just put it on when I hit and seemed to do okay.”

Tee times had been moved up in anticipation of the rain but play was still suspended between 10:57am and 5:35pm.

Argentinian Emiliano Grillo eagled the par-5 sixth for the second day in a row and closed with a 67 to hold on to second place at 14-under.

“If (Piercy) brings half of his game from today to tomorrow, that’s going to be very tough,” said Grillo.

Doug Ghim and Tony Finau both carded 65s for a share of third place at 13-under followed by fellow American Tom Hoge (66) in fourth at 12-under.
