Simon Forsström faltered on the back nine with a double bogey at the par-4 10th followed by a bogey at the par-3 12th. He recovered with birdies at the 14th, 16th and 17th for a 69 to reach 17-under and win his maiden title at the Soudal Open by one shot.

Forsström earned his DP World Tour card by winning at the Final Stage of Qualifying School in November and has recorded three top-10 finishes since.
“I think the course suits me very well, it’s pretty tight and short.
“I won on the Challenge Tour in Belgium, so I think Belgium is good!
“It’s pretty similar to Sweden, the trees and the grass, so I think I feel very at home here.
“I hope I can keep proving myself and that this wasn’t one time.”

Fellow Swede Jens Dantorp closed with a 67 to finish second at 16-under followed by Denmark’s Thorbjørn Olesen in third at 14-under after a final-round 66.
England’s Matthew Southgate carded a 68 to reach 13-under for a share of fourth place alongside France‘s Mike Lorenzo-Vera (69) and Sweden‘s Alexander Björk (67).
