Lee and Tavatanakit set for Riyadh showdown in Aramco Team Series finale

Alison Lee and Patty Tavatanakit will compete in the highly-anticipated Aramco Team Series grand finale at Riyadh Golf Club.

The Riyadh Golf Club is set to host an exciting finale to the 2024 Aramco Team Series presented by PIF, where two of golf’s most prominent talents — Alison Lee and Patty Tavatanakit — will return to the scene of their past triumphs.

For Alison Lee, this year’s tournament brings back memories of her stunning 2023 performance, when she dominated the field with a record-breaking final score of 29-under-par, setting a new 54-hole benchmark on the Ladies European Tour (LET). Returning to Riyadh as the defending champion from 31 October to 2 November, the American is ready to relive the magic that saw her card a final-round 65 and secure a career-defining win.

“Winning in Riyadh last year was a career highlight for me. The energy and support were incredible, and I felt like everything came together perfectly on the course,” Lee reflected. “I’m looking forward to bringing that same energy and focus to this year’s event as it’s always special to return to a place where you’ve had such a memorable win.”

Lee recently represented Team USA in the 2024 Solheim Cup and is arriving in Saudi Arabia with momentum on her side. But her competition is equally fierce — and familiar.

Patty Tavatanakit, ranked No. 22 in the world, is no stranger to the Riyadh Golf Club’s unique challenges. Earlier this year, the Thai star celebrated an emotional victory at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International, her first title since 2021. That win, on the very same course, reinvigorated her confidence and set the stage for her current form.

“Lifting that trophy earlier this year in Riyadh was a huge boost for me and a very emotional win,” Tavatanakit explained. “It felt like a turning point in my career and gave me the confidence to win another title straight off the back of it. Coming back to the same course is something I’m really excited about, and I’m ready for the challenge.”

With the Aramco Team Series (ATS) closing out another brilliant season, the Riyadh event will also highlight Golf Saudi’s broader vision for the sport. The series, with its innovative team format, has taken players across four continents — Tampa, South Korea, London, and Shenzhen — showcasing the best of women’s golf worldwide. This year’s international winners include Ireland’s Leona Maguire, Korea’s Hyo-Joo Kim, Alexandra Fosterling from Germany, and France’s Celine Boutier.

The unique structure of the tournament brings together teams of three professional golfers and one amateur, creating a dynamic format for golfers and fans alike to enjoy. The $5 million in annual prize money adds to the allure, but beyond the numbers, it has also provided local talent and amateurs with the opportunity to compete alongside — and learn from — the world’s best.

As Lee and Tavatanakit prepare to face off once again, this year’s finale promises to be a captivating showdown at the spectacular Riyadh Golf Club, culminating a season filled with passion, progress, and exceptional golf.
