Martin Couvra shot a final-round 64 after firing nine birdies and two bogeys. He reached 17-under to win his maiden DP World Tour title at the Turkish Airlines Open.
The 22-year-old Frenchman who graduated from the HotelPlanner Tour last year had already had a good first season with four top-10 finishes including a fifth place finish at the Hainan Classic.
“It was amazing to win on my first year on the DP World Tour – it’s just a dream,” said Couvra. “I wake up in the morning to win some tournaments and to win early [in my DP World Tour career] is fantastic so really happy about that.
“Naturally it was really difficult to keep calm and in good shape to close out this round but I was really happy with all of the discussions with my caddie today, it was just amazing.
“I think tonight is going to be fun with all of the French players!”
Spain’s Jorge Campillo made two bogeys while China’s Haotong Li made just one to record 67s and both tied for second place at 15-under.
England’s Brandon Robinson Thompson who held the overnight lead made two bogeys and one birdie for a 72. He finished in solo fourth place at 13-under.
