INFINITUM is ready to host the DP World Tour Qualifying School Final Stage from 8-13 November, marking the sixth consecutive year the Costa Dorada golf resort has held the event. However, this time, it will mark a debut for the newly renovated Lakes course.
In a move set to challenge even the most seasoned pros, INFINITUM’s Lakes course has undergone an €800,000 transformation. Originally designed by Greg Norman, the course now features pristine Zoysia grass and redesigned bunkers, creating a fresh landscape for golfers vying for a coveted spot on the DP World Tour.
“It is a pleasure to welcome the DP World Tour back to host Qualifying School Final Stage here for the sixth year in a row and we’re excited to get another thrilling week of golf underway,” said Joaquín Mora Bertrán, INFINITUM’s Deputy General Manager of Golf.
“While our courses are designed to be accessible for novices and Major winners alike, make no mistake – under tournament conditions, they are a serious challenge even for seasoned professionals. Players will have to be at their best to earn a DP World Tour card.”
Among the hopefuls tackling the 108-hole, six-round gauntlet will be some of golf’s most promising young talents and established stars. Leading the pack of hopefuls is Edoardo Molinari, former Ryder Cup player and returning Vice Captain.
The final stage format is designed to test endurance as much as skill. Competitors will alternate between the Lakes and Hills courses over four rounds before the cut, after which the remaining golfers will battle it out across two final rounds on the Lakes course. Only the top 25 plus ties will secure their DP World Tour cards for next season.
This year’s event is also part of a broader development plan for INFINITUM’s golf offerings. With the Lakes course complete, attention will soon turn to the Hills course. Starting in December 2024, a renovation led by European Golf Design’s Dave Sampson – known for his work on the Marco Simone course used in the 2023 Ryder Cup – will upgrade the Hills and introduce a new nine-hole composite course by early 2026.
Since its opening in 2008, INFINITUM has risen as a premier training ground in European golf. National teams from Switzerland and Finland regularly hold their winter training at the resort, while Scandinavia’s prestigious ECCO Tour will bring three tournaments to the venue in early 2025.
Beyond its courses, INFINITUM offers extensive amenities, including an award-winning Beach Club, a variety of dining options, and a growing real estate portfolio. The resort was also recently recognised with three awards at the 2024 International Property Awards, including Five Star Honours for Landscape Architecture and Residential Development.
With a marathon of golf to be played, the INFINITUM Hills & Lakes course now stands between golfers and a place in European golf’s upper echelons.
