Defending champions Bernhard and Jason Langer defeated Tiger and Charlie Woods on the first playoff hole (No. 18) to win the PNC Championship.
After Charlie, Tiger and Jason each missed eagle attempts in the two-person Scramble format on the par-5 18th, Bernhard drained his eagle putt for the victory.
“It was tight all day. We were within a shot either way from the very beginning, and he (Dad) really played well. I put a little bit of pressure on him in certain spots, and he made a bunch of putts and was so consistent. It was a special day. Won’t forget it,” said Jason.
Langer has now won a record-breaking six times in 19 appearances surpassing Raymond Floyd (5) for the most wins in the event’s history.
This was Team Langer’s low 18-hole score (57) at the PNC Championship (38 rounds). Previous low 18-hole score was 59 (five times).
He has won with son, Jason, in 2014, 2019, 2023 and 2024 and won with son, Stefan, in 2005 and 2006.
Jason becomes the first amateur to win the PNC Championship four times, surpassing Ray Floyd Jr. (3).
“The cool thing here is obviously you want to win but you have so much fun just whether you win or not. You could finish 10th and have a great time just because what the tournament’s all about, family and friends; and this time of the year, and it’s a great venue and great sponsor and everything,” said Bernhard.
“Having my other son, Stefan, caddie for him, and my son-in-law, Chase, caddying for me, and then have my wife here and my daughter, Jackie was here. It’s truly a family affair, and that’s what makes this event even more special.”
Team Woods and Team Langer each set the record for low 36-hole score at the PNC Championship (116, previous record: 117 by Team Daly in 2021).
During Sunday’s final round, Charlie Woods made his first-ever hole-in-one on No. 4 with a 7-iron from 176 yards.
“It was awesome,” said Charlie. “No one made a mistake today, so that was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. On top of that, I made an ace. I don’t think I can top that. It was awesome.”
“That’s one of the highlights we’ve ever had,” Tiger added. “On the hole previous, he made his first eagle (in a previous PNC), and now he just made his first hole-in-one. It’s a magical two-hole stretch. I’m just so happy for him and for the enjoyment we had as a family. To be out there with Bernie and Jason, it was a lot of fun … It was back and forth, nobody made a mistake today; we had to earn it, and that was the joy of it.
“I’m nowhere near competitive shape. I’m a great scramble partner. We made a great team this week, and that’s the whole joy of it, is to be out here with family and bonding and just the enjoyment of each other’s company.”
First-round co-leader Team Singh (Vijay/Qass), Team Duval (David/Brady) and Team Harrington (Padraig/Paddy) each finished T3 at 23-under.
