John Parry started the day with a share of the lead but made just one birdie on the front nine and found himself trailing by five shots at the turn. He fired five birdies on the back nine to close with a bogey-free 65 and heads into the weekend with the solo lead at 14-under at the Magical Kenya Open presented by absa.
“It felt a lot trickier than yesterday with trying to judge the wind. It got a lot bouncier,” said the Englishman.
“I felt like I controlled the ball all day, I definitely drove it better than yesterday. I controlled my ball flight pretty well and felt comfortable out there.
“It’s pretty simple, I just like to feel pretty centred through the turn and then just turn back down through it. It’s one of those things I’ve been doing for the last year and then trying to shape the ball both ways.
“I think that’s probably what’s helped me today with the wind direction, trying to hold the ball against the wind and things like that.”
France’s Benjamin Hébert who held a share of the overnight lead made a single bogey at the 3rd as well as six birdies including three in a row from the 16th to close with a 66 and move down into second place at 13-under.
South African Jayden Schaper fired an eagle at the par-5 18th, three birdies and three bogeys for a 69 and lies in third place at 9-under followed a shot further behind by Sweden’s Christofer who closed with a bogey-free 68.
