Fairmont Golf Open backs My Name’5 Doddie Foundation

Fairmont St Andrews will host the inaugural Fairmont Golf Open this September, raising funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

This September, Fairmont St Andrews will host the very first Fairmont Golf Open, a new tournament with a purposeful mission, in proud partnership with the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, the leading charity taking on motor neuron disease.

Running from 12-14 September 2025, the three-day event promises a memorable mix of golf, hospitality, and good company. Players will take on two rounds across the world-famous Torrance and Kittocks Courses, with the dramatic coastline of St Andrews Bay as the backdrop. Off the course, the package includes two nights in five-star luxury, hearty breakfasts, evening entertainment, and a farewell lunch and awards ceremony to round things off in style.

To mark the partnership, ten per cent of all bookings for The Fairmont Golf Open, along with every new golf event booking made before the end of the year, will be donated to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, helping to fund vital research into motor neuron disease.

“We’re honoured to support a cause that carries so much meaning for the sporting world,” says Kai Winkler, General Manager, Fairmont St Andrews. “Doddie’s legacy continues to inspire, and we hope this event brings people together in his spirit with generosity, determination, and joy.”

The Foundation, created in memory of Scottish rugby legend Doddie Weir, is driving forward research into effective treatments for motor neuron disease, championing progress with passion, courage, and momentum.

As for the golf itself, players are in for a treat. Designed by Ryder Cup hero Sam Torrance and renowned architect Bruce Devlin, the two championship courses serve up a mix of dramatic coastal holes, sweeping fairways, and panoramic views over the Home of Golf.
