Tour Championship R2

Tommy Fleetwood fired eight birdies and one bogey for a 7-under 63 to take a share of the lead at 13-under at the Tour Championship.

He ranks second in the field in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green (2.829) and Strokes Gained: Putting (3.908) through two rounds.

“I think I’m playing really good golf. I think the easiest thing — maybe I don’t know whether it’s expected, but obviously when you’ve had a couple of disappointments or you’ve been close and it’s not quite happened, things like that. Obviously want to make the most of when you’re playing well, and just because I guess things haven’t worked out for me before doesn’t mean they won’t work out this week or next week or whenever that may be.

“Best possible scenario, put yourself in contention. Play well, put yourself in contention, and go from there. Just sticking to the process. I think I’m doing a lot of things well and just happy that I’ve got off to a great start in another tournament and I’m there again.”

The Englishman holds his seventh 36-hole lead/co-lead on the PGA Tour, most recently at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship where he finished T3. He is 0-for-6 converting to victory.

His 36-hole total of 127 (64-63) ties his career-low on Tour (2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship).

Fleetwood seeks his maiden PGA Tour victory in his 164th career start. He entered the week ranked No. 5 in the FedExCup standings, the highest-ranked player in the FedExCup without a win this season. His seven top-10s this season are his second-highest total on Tour since 2017-18 (9/2023).

He and Scottie Scheffler were the only two players to finish inside the top-10 in each of the first two Playoffs events (T3/FedEx St. Jude Championship, T4/BMW Championship).

Overnight leader Russell Henley of the USA made one bogey and closed with a 66 to retain a share of the lead. He leads the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (4.824) through two rounds.

“I’m driving it really well these last two weeks especially, and just feel like from the fairway, you can attack a lot of these holes. I feel like I hit a lot of shots today that were really good shots that maybe didn’t end up quite close enough or maybe gave myself a little bit of an awkward birdie putt. But still feel like I putted it well, hit my lines really well, and just hit a bunch of fairways. That’s what you’ve got to do around here,” said Henley.

He holds his eleventh 36-hole lead/co-lead on Tour (most recent: 2024 Arnold Palmer Invitational/T4). He is 2-for-10 converting to victory (2013 Sony Open in Hawaii, 2023 World Wide Technology Championship).

Henley has recorded nine top-10s in seventeen starts this season, including a victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

American Cameron Young made one bogey and nine birdies for a 62, tying his low 18-hole score on Tour this season, and lies in third place at 11-under.

BMW Championship runner-up Robert MacIntyre of Scotland posted a bogey-free 66 and moved down into a share of fourth place at 10-under.

American Patrick Cantlay eagled the par-5 18th and made five birdies and three bogeys for his own 66 and share of fourth place. His 36-hole total of 130 is his lowest on Tour this season.

In sixth place at 8-under, reigning FedExCup Champion Scottie Scheffler made three bogeys and posted a 69 marking his 19th consecutive round under par (last round over par: R3/2025 Travelers Championship/72/+2). With a win, he would become the first player to win back-to-back FedExCup titles.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy carded a bogey-free 67 and is tied in seventh place at 7-under.
