Tommy Fleetwood wins first PGA Tour title and FedEx Cup

Tour Championship R4

Dubai Invitational 2024 R4 -Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood signed for a final-round, 2-under 68 having made five birdies and three bogeys to reach 18-under and win the Tour Championship and the FedExCup. He led the field in Strokes Gained: Putting (8.148), more than doubling the next-highest total (Sam Burns/3.901).

“I feel like I’ve had a great attitude throughout it all. I was a bit erratic today at times, and I was really proud of how I found my swing again on like the 11th hole, 12th hole. Changed my routine a little bit, and yeah — still, when you’ve lost it so many times, three-shot lead down the last doesn’t feel like that many.

“I think I’m proud of what I’ve done before. Whether I’ve won or not, I’ve still been proud of my career so far, knowing that I still have a long way to go and lots of learning. This doesn’t change that really. This is hopefully just one win, the first of many to come. You cannot win plenty if you don’t win the first one.

“I’m just happy that I got it done and happy with my work ethic, and I’ll continue to try and get better and try to be the best I can be.”

This first PGA Tour title came in his 164th start at the age of 34. Fleetwood is now exempt on Tour through 2030.

The Englishman is the first player since Chad Campbell in 2003 to make the Tour Championship his first career Tour victory.

He is the first player to finish inside the top six of the leaderboard after every round of the FedExCup Playoffs having posted all twelve rounds in the 60s, including four rounds of 64 or better.

American Russell Henley made one bogey and carded a 69 to finish T2 at 15-under. This marks his second consecutive top-five finish at the Tour Championship.

2021 FedExCup Champion Patrick Cantlay of the USA fired four birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey at the par-3 2nd hole to post a 71 and join Henley in T2. He led the field in Strokes Gained: Approach the Green (6.068) and Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (5.164).

Canada’s Corey Conners posted a bogey-free 62 for his low 18-hole score of the season by four strokes and finished T4 at 14-under.

Reigning FedExCup Champion Scottie Scheffler of the United States made six birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey at the par-3 1th for a 68. This was his 21st consecutive round in the 60s, tying the record set by Patrick Cantlay. Scheffler was seeking to become the first player to win back-to-back FedExCup titles.

Finally American Cameron Young also finished fourth with a final round 71 having made one bogey.
