McIlroy set to defend DP World Tour crown in bid for seventh Race to Dubai title

Rory McIlroy returns to Jumeirah Golf Estates in November to defend his DP World Tour Championship title and chase a record seventh Race to Dubai crown.

Rory McIlroy will be back at Jumeirah Golf Estates from 13–16 November as he looks to defend his DP World Tour Championship title and chase down a seventh Race to Dubai crown.

The Northern Irishman was in top form last year, producing a clinic in control and creativity to win the season finale for the third time, a victory that also secured him a record-equalling sixth Race to Dubai title, matching the late, great Seve Ballesteros. Only Colin Montgomerie, with eight, now sits ahead of him.

At 36, McIlroy’s CV is up there with the all-time greats following his Masters victory to secure his career grand slam, but the Earth Course in Dubai has been particularly kind to him. He’s lifted the DP World Tour Championship trophy in 2012, 2015 and 2024, while finishing the season on top of the standings six times across his career, most recently in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Add in his four other wins in Dubai, and it’s no wonder he calls the city a special place.

Currently top of the Race to Dubai Rankings, McIlroy is keeping himself busy in the UAE. Before teeing it up in Dubai, he’ll also play the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the first stop in the DP World Tour Play-Offs. His spot in both events was guaranteed thanks to a superb season that included his long-awaited Masters triumph at Augusta, a tied runner-up finish at the Genesis Scottish Open, a fourth at the Dubai Desert Classic and a tied-seventh at The Open at Royal Portrush.

Speaking ahead of his return, McIlroy said:

“Dubai has always been a special place for me. Winning both the DP World Tour Championship and the Race to Dubai last year was an incredible way to finish the season. To equal Seve’s record made it even more special. I’ve played some great golf this year and I’m looking forward to finishing strong again in front of the fans at Jumeirah Golf Estates.”

And there’s plenty for fans to look forward to away from the ropes, too. The DP World Tour Championship provides more than just world-class golf; it’s a full day out. Expect free golf lessons, kids’ activities, trick-shot shows, big screens, and even a dedicated Ladies Day.

Hospitality is top-notch, too. The Championship Chalet sits right on the 18th green, offering front-row seats to the drama, while the Earth Lounge overlooks the 16th, a perfect spot to relax with a drink as the action unfolds. Ticket+ gives you shaded viewing on 17, plus priority access at food and drink counters.

And here’s the best bit: general admission is free on Thursday and Friday. Weekend tickets are already selling fast, with up to 40% off if you book before September. To celebrate the 100-day countdown, fans who buy a ticket will also get a free one-month trial with WHOOP, the 24/7 fitness and health wearable used by the pros.

Tickets and premium packages are available online now.
