Play was suspended due to darkness at 5:27 p.m. AT at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship with 15 players set to resume at 7:30 a.m. Round two will start at 7 a.m. as scheduled.

Adam Hadwin made one bogey and birdied three of the four par-3 holes at Port Royal en route to a 6-under 65, equaling his lowest round this season (R1/Sony Open in Hawaii, R3/RBC Canadian Open).

“I hit a lot of really good quality iron shots today, I gave myself a lot of chances. Made some, scrambled a little bit when I needed to, never really got into too much trouble. A couple bad shots on the back that I wouldn’t mind back. You know, to birdie 8 and 13 with a 3-iron and then stick a nice 5-iron after bogeying 15; sticking a nice 5-iron on 16 after making bogey on 15 was a nice bounce back and kind of settled things down a little bit.

“I could probably clean a couple things up, but I have felt like the golf swing and some of the golf shots have been really good as of late. I thought Utah I did some really good things, I just putted terribly, and even last week in Mexico I thought I did some good things. Obviously it was a birdie-fest and I didn’t make enough putts, but yeah, kind of came together today.”

Hadwin has one previous PGA Tour victory to his name at the 2017 Valspar Championship. He has had 44 career top-10 finishes, including one in 27 starts this season (T9/WM Phoenix Open).

The Canadian missed the FedExCup Playoffs for the first time this season after advancing in all ten prior seasons as a Tour member.

PGA Tour rookie and eight-time Japan Golf Tour winner Takumi Kanaya made an eagle at the par-5 17th, four birdies and one bogey. He was on the 18th when play was suspended due to darkness and finished with a par for a 66 and a share of second place at 5-under.

American Braden Thornberry is tied in second place at 5-under through sixteen holes and one of only two players still bogey-free.

Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune made one bogey and closed with a 67 for a share of fourth place at 4-under alongside Americans Alex Smalley, Isaiah Salinda and Frankie Capan III who was still bogey-free through sixteen holes when play was suspended.

FedExCup Fall Notes

The 2025 Butterfield Bermuda Championship is the sixth event of the FedExCup Fall, a group of seven tournaments played after the Tour Championship that finalizes eligibility for the 2026 PGA Tour Season.

Winners of events during the FedExCup Fall receive the similar benefits of winners of Full-Field Events during the Regular Season, including 500 FedExCup points, Official World Golf Ranking points, a two-year PGA Tour exemption (exempt thru 2026) and invitations to The Sentry, the Players Championship and PGA Championship.

The Aon Next 10 is an eligibility pathway that awards access into Signature Events (outside of The Sentry), recognizing the top 10 players, not otherwise exempt, from the FedExCup standings; Nos. 51-60 in the final FedExCup Fall standings at the conclusion of The RSM Classic will serve as the Aon Next 10 for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational.
