Lucas Herbert completed a wire-to-wire victory at LIV Golf UK Presented by JCB, shooting a final-round 62 to set the League’s scoring record and lead Ripper GC to the team title.
The Australian finished at 30-under after rounds of 61, 66, 69 and 62 at JCB Golf & Country Club in Rocester. His six-shot victory over Tyrrell Hatton was his second wire-to-wire win of the season following LIV Golf Virginia in May.
Herbert also established LIV Golf tournament records with 30 birdies and 32 combined birdies and eagles. His winning total surpassed the previous League benchmark of 26-under, although the record arrived during LIV’s first season of 72-hole regular-season events after the earlier 54-hole format.
Herbert responds to Hatton’s charge
Herbert began Sunday three shots ahead but faced pressure from Hatton, who played his opening nine holes in 6-under. The leader responded by reaching the turn in 5-under.
He completed a bogey-free round despite stronger wind and rain than players had faced on Thursday, when his opening 61 broke the course record.
“I knew it wasn’t going to be a day where even par, 1-under was going to get it done for me,” Herbert said after the final round. “I knew I had to go out there and get it. Just kept pushing myself the whole way, and here we are.”
The victory extended Herbert’s form after he tied for sixth at The Open Championship. His second-round 62 at Royal Birkdale matched the men’s major-championship scoring record and helped deliver his best finish in a major.
Hatton finishes six shots back
Hatton’s bogey-free 63 secured second place at 24-under, one event after his victory at LIV Golf Andalucia. The Englishman made nine birdies but could not reduce Herbert’s advantage.
Bryson DeChambeau shot 68 to finish third at 21-under. Ripper captain Cameron Smith followed in fourth at 17-under after a closing 69, having matched LIV Golf’s record with eight consecutive birdies during Saturday’s third round.
Abraham Ancer and Caleb Surratt shared fifth at 14-under. Surratt’s final-round 67 also strengthened Legion XIII’s team challenge.
Ripper GC claims third team win
Ripper GC finished at 52-under, four shots ahead of Legion XIII. Crushers GC took third at 42-under, while Torque GC placed fourth at 30-under.
The result gave Ripper its third team victory of 2026 and its first in Europe. Herbert supplied 30-under of the winning total, with Smith finishing at 17-under and Marc Leishman at 9-under.
Reserve player Travis Smyth completed the Australian lineup after replacing the injured Elvis Smylie. Ripper’s victory also made Smyth the first LIV player to win with two teams in the same season after he helped Crushers GC triumph in Korea as an injury replacement for Paul Casey.
