Highgate has appointed Albert Docker as golf sales manager at Troon-managed Salgados Golf Club in the Algarve, to develop its golf business in domestic and international markets.
Docker brings more than 20 years’ experience in golf and hospitality. He will work with Troon and Highgate’s commercial team to strengthen relationships with existing partners and pursue new business.
He will support Esther Marijuan, vice president commercial for Highgate Portugal, who joined the company earlier this year after working at two hotels at Troon-managed golf destinations.
“Albert’s appointment is an exciting addition to our commercial team and further strengthens our focus on golf as an important part of Highgate’s offering,” Marijuan said.
Golf and accommodation at Salgados
Highgate Portugal appointed Troon in August 2023 to oversee golf operations, agronomy, sales and marketing at Salgados. Highgate says work since then has improved the course and its infrastructure, alongside changes to the guest experience.
The 18-hole course lies on flat land behind Praia de Galé, close to Salgados Beach and the Salgados Lagoon Nature Reserve. Golfers planning more rounds in the region can follow our Algarve course tour from Penina to Monte Rei.
