- Alcanada will host the Grand Final for a fifth consecutive year and sixth time overall.
Club de Golf Alcanada will host the HotelPlanner Tour’s Grand Final supported by the R&A from October 29 to November 1, with 15 DP World Tour cards at stake.
Two counting events remain before the leading 45 players in the Road to Mallorca Rankings qualify for the season finale. The 2026 schedule comprises 28 tournaments across 19 countries on three continents, culminating in the promotion contest at the Mallorca venue.
Formerly known as the Challenge Tour, the HotelPlanner Tour is Europe’s principal development circuit and a pathway to the DP World Tour. All four days of the final will receive live global television coverage through partners including Sky Sports and Golf Channel.
Blomstrand leads the Road to Mallorca
Sweden’s Christofer Blomstrand currently tops the rankings. MJ Daffue is second, with Julien Sale and Pablo Ereño completing the provisional top four.
David Horsey, Matthew Southgate, Chris Wood, Marc Warren and Barclay Brown also occupy qualifying positions as players seek to confirm their places in the final field.
Southgate’s season includes an eight-shot Swiss Challenge victory in June. He closed with a 9-under 62 at Golf Sempach to finish at 23-under and claim his maiden HotelPlanner Tour title. Warren was among the seven players tied for second place after a final-round 63.
Morrison and Penge’s success
James Morrison won last year’s Grand Final to complete his return to the DP World Tour, while JC Ritchie finished top of the Road to Mallorca Rankings.
Marco Penge, the 2023 champion at Alcanada, went on to win three DP World Tour titles in 2025. His third victory of that season, at the Spanish Open, also secured places in the 2026 Masters and Open Championship.
Penge finished second to Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai Rankings and earned the Seve Ballesteros Award as the 2025 Player of the Year.
The Grand Final’s roll of honour dates back to 1995. Henrik Stenson won in 2000 before going on to become an Open champion and reach world number two.
Alcanada’s coastal tournament test
Alcanada first hosted the Grand Final in 2019 and has welcomed it every year since 2022. Its Robert Trent Jones Jnr-designed par-72 layout looks towards the Mediterranean Sea and the Alcanada lighthouse, with exposed coastal winds adding to the demands of its fast greens and strategically positioned bunkers.
Ahead of its first Grand Final, the club began a €600,000 renovation programme in December 2018, with work to relay all 18 greens using bentgrass T1.
“The tournament has become an important part of the club’s identity, and we are proud to once again provide the stage for players competing to progress to the DP World Tour,” said Kristoff Both, director of golf at Club de Golf Alcanada.
