  • Julien Sale won the 2026 Grand Final at Club de Golf Alcanada by four shots.
  • Hamish Brown finished top of the Road to Mallorca Rankings, with Sale second.
  • Fifteen players earned DP World Tour cards for next season.

France’s Julien Sale signed off the 2026 HotelPlanner Tour season in style, closing with a 65 at Club de Golf Alcanada to win the Grand Final supported by The R&A on 22-under par.

That left him four clear of Hamish Brown of Denmark, who had the consolation of finishing top of the Road to Mallorca Rankings. Sale’s victory lifted him to second in the season standings. The pair led the 15 graduates who will play on the DP World Tour next year.

The tournament ran from October 29 to November 1. It was the sixth time the Mallorca venue has hosted the finale of the circuit formerly known as the Challenge Tour. Alcanada first staged it in 2019 and has held it every year since 2022. The Robert Trent Jones Jnr par-72 makes a testing final exam, with exposed coastal winds, fast greens and well-placed bunkering.

Life after Alcanada

Sale’s name goes on the honours board beneath recent winners James Morrison, Kristoffer Reitan and Marco Penge. Penge shows best what can follow. The 2023 Alcanada champion won three DP World Tour titles in 2025, the Hainan Classic, the Danish Golf Championship and the Open de España. He finished runner-up to Rory McIlroy in the Race to Dubai and collected the Seve Ballesteros Award as Player of the Year.

“We have watched players leave Alcanada with their DP World Tour cards and then followed their progress as they win tournaments and establish themselves at the highest level,” said Kristoff Both, director at Club de Golf Alcanada. “Seeing Marco Penge go from winning here to winning three times on the DP World Tour for example makes that connection particularly clear.”

A shop window for northern Mallorca

Live coverage on Sky Sports and Golf Channel showed the course against the Bay of Alcúdia and Alcanada’s lighthouse. The club hopes that exposure will bring visitors to the north of the island. The course sits close to the town of Alcúdia, so a round at a Grand Final venue fits easily alongside time on the surrounding coastline. The course also has the bentgrass greens laid in the club’s €600,000 renovation ahead of its first final.

Both also sees a role for the event in growing the game locally.

“Watching players earn their place on the DP World Tour can make that ambition feel closer, particularly when it happens at a course on your own island,” he said. “We want the Grand Final to help build that interest.”
