The Walker Cup The Walker Cup Match grew out of Rules meetings in 1920 between the USGA and the R&A, during which an international team competition was also discussed. USGA President George Herbert Walker drew up a plan and offered to donate a trophy, which became known as the Walker Cup, first played for in 1922 , when the US beat GB&I by 8-4. More history here...
