Kevin Na made birdie on the final hole to win the Sony Open and make it his fourth consecutive season with a win on the PGA Tour.

”I think experience is the reason why I’ve been winning,” he said. ”When you do it again, you know it seems like the next one comes easier. I think more about winning since I’ve been winning more often.”

He started his round two shots behind overnight leader Brendan Steele but looked to be out of contention when a 6-foot birdie putt on the 11th missed and he three-putted from 40 feet on the 12th for bogey.

He recovered with straight birdies on the next three holes and closed with a 5-under 65.

”I was playing maybe a little bit more aggressive coming down the stretch, not worrying so much about second or third, more focused on just that – winning,” said Na. ”Every year, I hope to win and I expect to win on the right golf courses.”

Steele eagled the par-5 9th to take a three-shot lead into the back nine but made two bogeys at the 10th and 14th and had to settle for a 69 and a tie for fourth place at 19-under.

”Totally changed the momentum,” Steele said of his bogey on the 10th. ”Every single shot I hit after that ended up with a weird lie. I think you just have to really take some positives out of this. Hard to see for me right now.”

Chris Kirk, who was playing his final event of a medical extension, tied for second and earned enough points to regain full status.

”It totally changes everything being able to be back to picking my schedule like I’m used to over the last number of years,” said Kirk. ”To go into a week and say I’ve got to finish top three to keep going and do is silly.”

Joaquin Niemann closed with a 66 and tied with Kirk, finishing second for the second week straight.

”Just another good week, so happy for that,” said Niemann, who leaves Hawaii having earned $1,369,400.
