Robert MacIntyre made one bogey and closed with a 66 at Kingsbarns Golf Links to take a share of the lead at 12-under before play was suspended overnight due to difficult weather conditions and unplayable courses at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
“It was almost a perfect round of golf, especially once the weather came in, just a lovely round,” said the Scotsman.
“It’s difficult when it gets this windy. It’s hard to hit the ball good with the wind.
“So I was having to try and fight the wind on certain holes and wasn’t comfortable. But I made some beautiful shots. Yeah, putted solidly in the wind.”

South African Richard Sterne had earlier benefitted from easier conditions and completed a bogey-free round at the Old Course for a 67, setting the clubhouse target.
“Yeah, good day. I got the right draw I think for the day, so that helped. After all the years of playing here, sometimes you get good draws, sometimes you get bad draws and today I got a good draw. Pretty happy with that,” said Sterne.
“But I’m playing well, and you can see that from the scoring.
“The weather was pretty good for the first nine, ten holes and then started to come in and I think it’s pretty tough now. The wind is picking up and obviously with the rain it’s not ideal. It’s Scotland and that’s what you expect.”
Fellow South African Louis Oosthuizen made one bogey and shot a 68 at Kingsbarns to move into third place at 11-under.
Nine players are tied in fourth place at 10-under including overnight co-leader Ryan Brehm of the USA who is 1-under for the day with two holes to play.
Round 2 is due to restart at 08:00 local time. Round 3 will be a shotgun start at all 3 courses at 12:30 local time
