AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am R2

Akshay Bhatia

American Akshay Bhatia signed for a bogey-free, 8-under 64 featuring an eagle at the par-5 14th at Spyglass Hill to take a share of the lead at 15-under at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

129 matches his career low 36-hole score (2024 Travelers Championship/finished T5).

The 2024 Rocket Classic was the only other time Bhatia has gone bogey-free thru 36 holes in his PGA Tour career (595 days ago).

He holds his fourth 36-hole lead/co-lead on Tour (most recently: 2025 Players Championship/finished T3) and is 1-for-3 on converting a 36-hole lead to a victory (2024 Valero Texas Open/Won, 2024 Rocket Classic/T2).

Bhatia is playing in his 100th career start on Tour and fourth start this season (MC/The American Express, MC/Farmers Insurance Open, T3/WM Phoenix Open).

“Played really nice last week. Then, yeah, just starting to kind of catch my groove or my stride. It’s tough first couple weeks and then now just trying to continue to build on good play and kind of feel like I have a really — I feel like my golf swing’s in a really nice spot, shot options are in a really nice spot and starting to see some putts fall.

“I think everyone’s always a little anxious — maybe not Scottie — to start the year. So yeah, just AmEx are on golf courses I love, didn’t play great. Torrey Pines, golf course I love, didn’t drive it great. And then I just really, I don’t know, I’m the same person, but just found some stuff in my golf swing, which was really nice. Found some stuff in my putting, which was really nice.

“Joe [Greiner] and I are still really fresh, which is really hard for me to think about sometimes because we have such a good kind of bond, I guess. So we’re still getting to know each other, he’s still getting to know my game, but we’re starting to kind of mesh together where when we walk up to a shot, we’re kind of on the same page all the time.”

The two-time PGA Tour winner (2023 Barracuda Championship, 2024 Valero Texas Open) finished No. 13 in the 2025 FedExCup, his best finish in three seasons.

Overnight leader Ryo Hisatsune of Japan made an eagle at the par-5 7th and two bogeys for a 67 at Spyglass Hill and retains a share of the lead at the halfway mark.

Hisatsune also held the 36-hole lead at last week’s WM Phoenix Open where he finished T10.

129 marks his career low 36-hole score on Tour (previously: 131 at the WM Phoenix Open). Hisatsune earned his best career finish on Tour earlier this season with a runner-up at the Farmers Insurance Open and qualified via the Aon Swing 5 (No. 2) for entry into the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and next week’s Genesis Invitational.

The third-year Tour member finished No. 95 in the 2025 FedExCup Fall standings to retain exempt status for 2026. He first earned his card for the 2024 season via the 2023 DP World Tour Top 10 (No. 10).

Hisatsune was named the 2023 Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year on the DP World Tour, the first player from Japan to win the award.

American Rickie Fowler made one bogey and carded a second-round 64, setting his lowest score on Spyglass Hill Golf Course in five career rounds. His 8-under matches Bhatia with the low round of the day at Spyglass Hill and he lies in T3 at 14-under.

Compatriot Sam Burns, also playing at Spyglass Hill, made one bogey for a 67 and a share of third place.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy signed for a 5-under 67 at Pebble Beach having made an eagle at the par-5 2nd and two bogeys for a share of 17th place at 9-under.

American World Number 1 Scottie Scheffler eagled the par-5 7th at Spyglass Hill and made one bogey for a 66 to lie in T34 at 6-under.

At 20-under, Keegan Bradley and Mary Meeker win the Pro-Am portion of the competition.

Second-round scoring averages: Pebble Beach Golf Links (69.100), Spyglass Hill Golf Course (69.525).

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am features an 80-player field with no cut. The event is played over two courses (Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course), with amateurs competing alongside professionals the first two rounds, with competition limited to professionals only over the final two rounds at Pebble Beach.
