Adam Schenk wins maiden PGA Tour title

Butterfield Bermuda Championship R4

Adam Schenk of the United States plays his shot from the second tee during the first round of the Barracuda Championship

Adam Schenk started the day with a share of the lead and produced one birdie and one bogey for a 71 to win the Butterfield Bermuda Championship by one shot at 12-under.

Schenk earned his first PGA Tour title in his 243rd career start at the age of 33. He had previously finished runner-up twice in 2023 at the Valspar Championship and Charles Schwab Challenge.

With the win, he earns a two-year exemption on Tour (through 2027) and is exempt for the 2026 Players Championship, RBC Heritage and PGA Championship.

“Unbelievable,” said Schenk. “Was really hoping this day would come at some point in my life. Never really know if it is. That’s what makes the journey so amazing, interesting, and it’s a surreal moment when it finally does.

“[There is] in a sense a little bit of, you know, just relief that it was so difficult, so a little bit of relief that it’s over with, and to finally get it done because it just seems like at some point or another I’ve been so close so many times. Eventually you get it done or you don’t, and I’m only going to have so many more of these opportunities,
especially if I would have lost in a four-, five-man playoff and still end up having to go to Q-School.

“It’s life changing I get two more years on the PGA Tour. I feel like I’m playing the best golf of my life that I ever played. For a lot of this year I just haven’t putted well and maybe putting one-handed this week a little bit. Unfortunately, it was too windy over the weekend to actually have one hand on the wheel, so I had to put the other hand on top, but I’ll be interested to see how that holds true next week in Sea Island at RSM.”

Second-year member Chandler Phillips of the United States made three birdies and three bogeys for his own 71 and finished second at 11-under, the best finish of his career in his 59th start on Tour.

Alex Smalley made three bogeys for a 68 and a share of third place at 10-under, his second top-10 finish in his last three starts (T4/Baycurrent Classic). In 27 starts this season, he has had ten top-25 finishes and four top-10s.

Vince Whaley also made three bogeys and signed for a 70 to finish T3, his fourth top-10 finish in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship (T3/2025, T5/2024, T8/2023, T7/2021) and second top-10 of the FedExCup Fall (T3/Sanderson Farms Championship).

Frankie Capan III made two bogeys for a 70 and recorded the third top-10 finish of his rookie season (3rd/Zurich Classic of New Orleans, T6/Sanderson Farms Championship).

Max McGreevy made two birdies, a bogey and a double bogey at the par-3 8th for a 1-over 72 and his third top-10 finish of the year (T4/Cognizant Classic, T4/Barracuda Championship).

Finally, also tied in third place and the only non-American in the top-5, Japan’s Takumi Kanaya carded a 72 featuring five bogeys and joined Schenk and Phillips as the only three players to move inside the top 100 in the FedExCup Fall standings following the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

The top 100 players in the FedExCup Fall standings at the conclusion of the FedExCup Fall at next week’s RSM Classic will earn exempt status on Tour for the 2026 season.

American Braden Thornberry, who shared the overnight lead, made two birdies, six bogeys and double bogeys at the par-5s 7th and 16th for a 9-over 80 and a T22 finish at 3-under.
