2020 champion Jorge Campillo was 6-under for the day through seventeen holes and held the lead at 16-under when play was suspended due to darkness at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
The Spaniard completed his second round in the morning, carding four birdies in eight holes to close with a 65 then went on to produce six birdies in a flawless third round.
Finland’s Sami Välimäki lies in second place one shot behind after carding a third straight 67.
Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre is 2-under through sixteen holes and lies in third place at 14-under ahead of compatriot Scott Jamieson in a tie for fourth place at 13-under after closing with a 66.
Jamieson started the week 119th on the Race to Dubai Rankings and needs a good finish to get into the top 116 this week.
Tied alongside him are American Sean Crocker (67), Spaniard Nacho Elvira (66) and South African Thomas Aiken who is 3-under through seventeen holes.
