Sami Välimäki fired a flawless 9-under 63 to take a two-shot lead in the D+D Real Czech Masters.
Välimäki carded the lowest round at the Resort but due to preferred lies being used at the 12th hole his round will not go down into the record books.
“I was a bit disappointed I couldn’t make a third (62 in the season),” said the Finn. “I was just flowing. When you start putting good and hitting it good, you just keep going and enjoy the round.
“Last time I missed the cut by a lot of shots, so I didn’t have big expectations for the week. It’s nice to start this way.”
Sweden’s Alexander Björk, Germany’s Maximilian Schmitt, Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune, England’s Todd Clements and Denmark’s Nicolai Højgaard all signed for 65 and lie in second place at 7-under.
