Ludvig Åberg closed with a 66 to reach 12-under and win his second PGA Tour title at the Genesis Invitational.
“I sort of felt like I wasn’t really myself, wasn’t feeling great, wasn’t swinging great, sort of struggled a bit at home last week with how I was playing. Was nice to come here sort of starting to feel like myself again and physically getting there. It means a lot. This is the best feeling in golf and to be able to do what I did today is definitely going to help me going forward in the future,” said Åberg.
“It is hard winning on the PGA Tour, they’re the best players in the world. Anytime you have the opportunity to win it’s a cool feeling to try to win a golf tournament coming down the last couple holes.
“Today I executed the shots, I made a couple putts and that was the difference. It just sort of — it’s very reassuring to know that I can sort of go from where I was a couple weeks ago to winning a tournament in sort of a quick turnaround.”
This second title came in the Swede’s 40th career start on Tour at the age of 25 years, 3 months, 17 days and 455 days since his first victory at the 2023 RSM Classic.
Åberg totaled 19 birdies and two eagles including a hole-in-one this week and led the field in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (10.0).
American Maverick McNealy recorded the low round of the week with a final-round 64 featuring five consecutive birdies from the 2nd and finished second at 11-under.
American World number 1 Scottie Scheffler followed his third-round 76 with a final-round 66 to finish T3 at 9-under, notching his second top-10 in three starts this season (T9/WM Phoenix Open).
54-hole leader Patrick Rodgers carded a final-round 71 for a share of third place, his first top-10 finish this season and his best finish on Tour since the 2023 Butterfield Bermuda Championship (T3).
