While National Banana Day might slip the mind of most in the golf industry, for OGIO it provides a chance to celebrate the breakthrough 2023 success of its bold and brash designs, especially that of the bright and breezy Bananarama range which is nearing complete sell out across all retail partners.

OGIO Europe is not afraid to produce products that stand out from the crowd, and the success of its recent move from ‘Mild to Wild’ across its golf product design may demonstrate a reflection on the demographic shift of the sport as younger people continue to take up golf around the world.

Since turning focus back toward golf last year, the company has produced dozens of eclectic colourways across its golf collection as it takes advantage of golf’s ever-changing image and increased participation numbers.

Vibrant, funky and bold, the blue-and-yellow Bananarama colourway defines OGIO’s approach. Unlike anything seen before in the golf bag world, it certainly will not sound ‘bananas’ to those in the industry that OGIO’s 2023 All Elements Stand Bag and 2023 All Elements Silencer Cart Bag in the design are selling quickly, with the latter’s patented Silencer Club Protection System ensuring the pattern is the only aspect of the bag making noise this year.

The designs are two of eight bags to have now completely sold out for retailers to buy just two months after they first hit the market – with the Sugar Skull, Red Flower Party and Blue Hash designs also appearing popular with consumers.

Bananarama has been such a hit, OGIO has used it across a range of other products – including its 2023 travel cover range.

The colourway has also been used on its new accessories, including its can cooler range. Soft coolers in the eclectic colourway are low in stock and the can cooler is also selling quickly.

The appeal of OGIO’s designs have been further bolstered since the turn of the year thanks to the acquisition of YouTube star Peter Finch as an official Global Golf Brand Ambassador. Key observers to the Manchester-based golf influencer’s channel will have seen a range of OGIO’s newest golf bags feature in his videos.

Michael Birch, OGIO sales and marketing manager EMEA, said: “It has been a very successful Q1 for us as we launched a range of colourway patterns as we continue to do something different and disrupt the golf bag market space.

“Some of our products, including the Bananarama design, definitely have that marmite effect of loving or hating them, but we are OK with that. It’s not just colours that we offer that are different, its technology features too and the re-introduction of silencer technology in our 2023 cart bags is another key development.”
