“I didn’t start off too hot. I missed a small one I think on No. 2. But I made a good putt on, I think, 6, and then made some really long ones on 8, 9, 10, and I think it was, yeah, I don’t know, the putter just kind of got hot. It was just fun to see putts go in, especially when we were hitting good iron shots, and down the stretch we made a good par on 16 and a good birdie on 18. Hopefully it just keeps going.”
Suh is the first player with seven straight 3s on his scorecard since the event moved to PGA National in 2007, playing from the 5th to the 11th in 5-under .
Chris Kirk shot a bogey-free 8-under 62, equalling his career-low round on Tour previously shot in the final round of the 2015 Sentry Tournament of Champions where he finished T14. He lies in second place at 9-under.
“Usually we’re playing for 15, 20 plus yards of hurt going into the wind shots, and 15, 20 yards of help on downwind shots,” he said. “So it’s really difficult to get those just right when it’s really windy.
“But today there was hardly a breath most of the round, and so it became a little bit more target practice.”
England’s Ben Taylor carded a 65 to move into a share of third place at 8-under, the only non-American in the top-5.
Tied alongside him are Monday Qualifier Ryan Gerard (63), Ben Martin (64), Eric Cole (66) and a bogey-free Brice Garnett (64).
Defending champion Sepp Straka carded a 68 and lies in T22 at 3-under, trailing by seven strokes in bid to become the first repeat winner of The Honda Classic since Jack Nicklaus in 1977-78.
Play was suspended due to darkness at 6:27 p.m. with two players yet to complete their round. They will resume at 6:50 a.m., with the third round consisting of threesomes off one tee from approximately 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
