Casey Jarvis signed for a bogey-free, 6-under 64 to take a one-shot lead at 11-under at the Investec South African Open Championship.

“I was actually just thinking as I was finishing off my scorecard that could be one of my greatest putts in front of a home crowd, so I think that was a really cool moment,” said Jarvis.

“Obviously it’s good momentum heading into tomorrow. To make that putt ([at the last)] was really nice.

“I really enjoyed it, I played really nicely out there. It wasn’t easy. The home support is fantastic and I’m really, really looking forward to tomorrow.

“The experience is great, this course and the home fans are amazing and I love playing here.”

Jarvis, who won his first DP World Tour title at last week’s Kenya Magical Open, is aiming to become the eighth consecutive South African player to win at the event.

Italian Francesco Laporta who held the overnight lead fired three birdies and three bogeys for a 70 and moved down into a share of second place at 10-under.

South African Hennie Du Plessis shares second place following a third round 67 having made two bogeys.

Scotland’s Calum Hill carded a 65 featuring six birdies and one bogey and lies in fourth place at 8-under.

England’s Nathan Kimsey is tied in fifth place at 7-under having made four bogeys and closed with a 2-over 72.

South African Xander Basson carded a bogey-free 66 for his share of fourth place while compatriot Kieron van Wyk made an eagle at the par-5 12th, five birdies and one bogey for a 64 for his.
