LIV Golf has confirmed that its Hong Kong tournament will return in early 2027, extending the event’s growing presence in Asia and reinforcing the city’s standing as a major stage for global sport.
The fourth edition of HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong is scheduled for 18–21 February 2027 at the historic Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. Organisers say the announcement reflects a continued commitment to the region while underlining Hong Kong’s reputation as a destination capable of hosting world-class sporting spectacles.
The dates were revealed during a press conference at the Hong Kong Golf Club featuring LIV Golf Chief Executive Scott O’Neil, HSBC Managing Director and Global Head of Brand Partnerships Andrea de Vincentiis and Hong Kong Golf Club Captain Andy Kwok.
Scott O’Neil, LIV Golf CEO, said:
“Hong Kong is a cornerstone of our international calendar and an important gateway for golf’s continued growth in Asia. As the world’s golf league, LIV Golf is committed to investing in dynamic markets like Hong Kong where sport, entertainment and culture are celebrated and recognized on a global scale.
“Announcing our 2027 event a year in advance is a testament to the local support and momentum building in Hong Kong. I want to thank our partners at HSBC, the HKSAR Government, and Hong Kong Golf Club who all share in our vision to grow the game and continue delivering a world-class event that connects with fans of all ages and brings significant economic impact to the region.”

Long Term Partnership Strengthening Hong Kong’s Sporting Calendar
By placing the tournament in February, organisers aim to position the event firmly within Hong Kong’s busy calendar of international sport and entertainment. The schedule also highlights the ongoing partnership between LIV Golf, HSBC, the Hong Kong SAR Government and the Hong Kong Golf Club as the event continues to establish itself on the city’s sporting landscape.
Andrea de Vincentiis, HSBC Managing Director, Global Head of Brand Partnerships, said:
“HSBC has supported golf globally for more than 20 years, and our partnership with LIV Golf represents a natural evolution of that legacy. It reflects both our international network and our long-standing commitment to Hong Kong.
“HSBC LIV Golf Hong Kong showcases the city to a global audience while contributing to the growth of the game across Asia. We are proud to continue our support to an event that aligns with our ambitions internationally and within this great community.”
“M” Mark Status Confirmed for 2027
The tournament will again carry “M” Mark status in 2027, a designation awarded by the Major Sports Events Committee to the territory’s most significant competitions. The recognition is reserved for events that bring scale, excitement and international attention to Hong Kong’s sporting calendar.
Fans attending this week’s tournament will also receive an early opportunity to secure their place for the next edition. Ticket holders for the 2026 event, which runs from Thursday 5 March through Sunday 8 March, will gain exclusive access to specially priced 2027 tickets beginning this Sunday via LIVGolf.com.

Burmester and Ortiz Share Lead at LIV Golf Hong Kong
While the announcement looks ahead to the future, attention on the course remains firmly fixed on the drama unfolding in the 2026 tournament. After two rounds at the Hong Kong Golf Club, Dean Burmester and Carlos Ortiz share the lead at 14-under-par, setting up an intriguing weekend battle.
Ortiz followed his blistering opening round of 10-under 60 with a 4-under 66 on Friday that included seven birdies despite a few early struggles. Burmester matched the leading total with a 6-under 64, finding momentum late in his round with four consecutive birdies before finishing strongly with a 15-foot putt at the 18th.
Thomas Detry’s Remarkable Journey to Hong Kong
Just behind them sits Thomas Detry, who produced one of the stories of the week. The 4Aces GC player only arrived in Hong Kong 24 hours before the opening round after travel disruption in the Middle East left several LIV Golf players stranded in Dubai. Legion XIII captain Jon Rahm arranged a private flight for seven players and a caddie to reach Hong Kong, with Detry among the group.
Detry has rewarded the effort with impressive form, firing a 7-under 63 on Friday to move to 13-under-par and into solo third place. Rahm himself sits just one shot further back at 12-under-par after producing the round of the day, a brilliant 8-under 62 that included an eagle at the par-5 13th and four birdies across his final five holes.
The Spaniard, who has finished runner-up in his last four LIV Golf starts, remains firmly in contention as he searches for his next victory.

Team Competition and McDowell’s Moment
The leaderboard remains tightly packed heading into the final two rounds, with 22 players within seven shots of the lead. In the team competition, Talor Gooch’s Smash GC holds a five-shot advantage over Torque GC, though with four scores counting in each round the race remains wide open.
Away from the leaderboard, Friday also delivered one of the week’s standout moments when Smash GC veteran Graeme McDowell thrilled the galleries with a hole-in-one at the 181-yard fifth hole, helping move him into a tie for eighth place at 10-under-par.
Hong Kong Golf Club Continues Championship Tradition
Since making its Hong Kong debut in 2024, the tournament has delivered memorable moments while showcasing elite golf at one of Asia’s most respected championship venues.
Andy Kwok, Captain, Hong Kong Golf Club, said:
“Established in 1889, Hong Kong Golf Club has a proud history of hosting world-class tournaments. We understand the responsibility that comes with staging global competition at this level.
“LIV Golf has brought new energy and new audiences to Fanling, while respecting the traditions of the game. We are proud to continue welcoming the league and its players to one of Asia’s most historic venues.”

LIV Golf’s Growing Global Impact
LIV Golf’s broader global impact has also grown rapidly. Across its 14-event schedule, tournaments have collectively generated more than $1 billion in economic impact for host cities around the world. The events have supported tourism, boosted hospitality sectors and brought international exposure through a broadcast reach that now exceeds 900 million viewers.
With the leaders separated by the finest of margins and a crowded chasing pack close behind, the 2026 edition is already delivering the kind of competitive drama that has quickly made Hong Kong one of the most anticipated stops on the LIV Golf calendar. As the weekend unfolds at Fanling, the stage is set for another memorable chapter in the tournament’s growing story.
